When I started Mama Moon, I didn’t go into it with an intention to "launch a wellness brand." I just wanted to share the things that fill my heart with others. In a recent marketing class I took to support this sweet new small business, I was asked to reflect on what kind of brand I have, and how I can communicate that to my customers. It was only then I brought forward the words “wellness brand."
Writing is one of the tools I use for reflection, so I started this blog and thought for my first post, I could share with you all what "wellness" means to me—in honor of mental health awareness month.
I believe wellness is not a destination but a journey—a sacred path of self-discovery, healing, and transformation. It's about nourishing not only our physical bodies but also our hearts, spirit and energetic bodies by connecting with the divine essence within and around us. In today's fast-paced world, where stress and distractions abound, taking the time to pause and tune into our inner wisdom is not just an act of honoring toward our personal wellbeing, but I believe it’s an act of honoring for the collective consciousness of all beings.
Wellness, to me, is about cultivating a deep sense of presence and mindfulness, where we can fully embrace the present moment with gratitude and acceptance. It's about carving out sacred space for meditation, allowing ourselves to quiet the mind and open the heart to the whispers of our soul. Through meditation, we can tap into our spiritual connections, accessing the infinite wellspring of wisdom and love that resides within us.
Being out in nature is another essential aspect of wellness for me. Whether it's a walk in the woods, tending my garden, or simply basking in the sun, nature has a way of grounding us, rejuvenating our spirits, and reminding us of the abundance, beauty and interconnectedness of all life.
In my own journey toward wellness, I leaned into the healing power of Mother Earth's natural medicine. From herbal remedies to essential oils, crystals to sound healing, nature offers us many tools to support our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. By aligning ourselves with the rhythms of nature and honoring her wisdom, we can experience profound healing and restoration.
But wellness is not just a solitary expedition—it's about cultivating a supportive community of friends, family, and trusted advisors who uplift and inspire us on our journey. It's about surrounding ourselves with love, compassion, and understanding, knowing that we are never alone in our triumphs or our struggles.
Finally, one of the quickest ways for me to feel a deep sense of wellness is to cultivate an attitude of gratitude—a profound recognition of the blessings that surround us each day. And not just by focusing solely on the good in our lives—that is called spiritual bypassing which I’ll save for another post—but by offering gratitude even to the things that you feel might be going wrong in your life.
Often, the things that feel as if they are your deepest thorns are the things that will push you to grow, teach you your most valuable lessons and take you to your very edge – these things manifest your expansion. I invite you to reflect on the idea of offering gratitude not just for your blessings but for your challenges as well. By acknowledging and appreciating the richness, potential and abundance in our lives, we invite more acceptance, joy, peace, and fulfillment into our hearts.
In essence, to me, wellness is a holistic journey that encompasses the nurturing of our body, mind, and spirit. It's about embracing the sacredness of life, honoring our interconnectedness with all beings, and walking the path of love, compassion, awareness, acceptance and self-discovery. Through Mama Moon, I invite you to share your journey with me—to embrace wellness in all its beautiful and transformative forms.
With LOVE and gratitude,
Stephanie
